About Application Systems Heidelberg

Application Systems Heidelberg Software GmbH has been developing outstanding products for over 40 years.

Our roots are in the development and distribution of software for the ATARI ST computer. We achieved market leadership primarily thanks to development systems (Megamax C, Megamax Modula 2, Pure C, Pure Pascal) and products such as the Signum word processor and others.

After the decline of Atari, we worked with our sister companies Application Systems Paris and Application Systems London to establish a sales network across Europe and sold to customers such as Apple Store Europe, Media Markt, Saturn, amazon.de, amazon.fr, amazon.co.uk, Fnac, and many others. We have also built up a network of authorized dealers, in which we have established close cooperation with well over 150 dealers. In total, we have reached more than 800 active retail stores and countless customers who purchase goods from us on a project basis, as well as several dozen online retailers.

Our focus has been on Macintosh software and photography-related products. We have succeeded in establishing a leading position in Europe, particularly in the field of games for macOS. But we have also taken on sales and marketing of a number of products for Windows computers.

Since 2013, there has been another radical change. Software in general and games in particular have disappeared from store shelves, gradually rendering our partnerships and services worthless.

We therefore realigned the company and systematically restructured it to focus on the development, co-development, distribution, and publishing of indie games. With our experience in code development, QA, testing, localization, and marketing, we have entered into numerous partnerships and have now developed, co-developed, and ported almost 20 games to various platforms.

The focus is on narrative games such as The Longing, PRIM, Rosewater, and Unforeseen Incidents, but our portfolio also includes other genres such as the cooperative multiplayer game Witchtastic.
